Wait, Revlon brought out MORE Balms? Yes, indeedy! When I saw these little pretties on display at Rite Aid I had to stop myself from grabbing all of them with the urgency of a greedy dingo. Now Jade, buy only what you really need. Yeah right. I need them all! I only picked up 3 of the lacquers and 2 of the mattes. Le sigh.
The packaging on these really drew me in because, honestly, I’m a huge sucker for the pretties. Suffice it to say that as soon as I left the store, I hastily rubbed off the lipstick I was wearing, tore off the lid to one of the Matte Balms and slathered on the goodness. And my oh my are they good. They all smell deliciously minty and feel like heaven on the lips. They are slightly cooling upon initial contact and, despite the matte finish, they stay moist for at least a couple of hours on the lips. The Lacquer Balms are equally as good. Slightly more so in my opinion because I love me some shine on my lips. The Lacquers were so easy to apply and looked effortless…
Striking- Tomato red that is, dare I say, wearable? I don’t usually purchase colors like this but I was in a strange mood when I picked it up and thought, why not? I’m glad I did!
Shameless- Deep, sultry violet. It is very, very dark and pigmented but I really like it. I think it’s going to be great to deepen up some of the brighter colors I have and, the wear down on this is a stunning berry color.
Both of these are lovely, moisturizing, and extremely pigmented. My one qualm is that they were both a bit patchy, especially Shameless. I could NOT get it to go on in an even layer. My lips are a bit dry but, I don’t have troubles with any of my other lipsticks. I also found that they leave a bit of a stain on the lips. I have no problem with this but I know that other people abhor staining lippies.
Whimsical- Medium purpled berry that I can see being very flattering on pretty much anyone. I’m white chalk pasty and this looked great on me (if I do say so myself!).
Provocateur- Flattering cherry red. Simple as that!
Ingenue- Tanned beige-y color. I thought this wasn’t going to be a good color for me after I swatched it on my arm but after wearing it all day, I really like it. It’s nice for everyday and as a good ‘palette cleanser’ color on days when you’ve had enough of the deep cold-weather colors.
I am really partial to the Lacquers because of the shine. They each also have subtle glitter. These feel comfortable on the lips and were really easy to put on.
Overall, I am so glad that I picked these up and I’m convinced I need more. It must be the greedy dingo mentality. Revlon hit it out of the ball park. They are all long-lasting, pigmented, and comfortable to wear. For just under $9 each, you can’t go wrong.
